Draw With Me: Cozy, Eli and Aubrey from my MM Romance Book "The Bad Idea"

There’s something magical about capturing a quiet, intimate moment between characters. Is my favorite part of creating MM romance. I'm a total cheeseball. 👀💦 When I worked on this piece, I found myself thinking about the cozy mornings that feel like an exhale—a soft, private slice of life that reminds us why love stories matter. These stories and moments are definitely an escape for me from the real world. You know what I mean?

Aubrey and Eli! This illustration features two of my favorite characters (actually... they're all my favorite, lol) in a quiet, sunlit bedroom. The little details—a vase of flowers, books by the bedside, and warm tones—are my attempt to bring their world to life. And a small nod to a certain section of the book where Eli surprises Aubrey with flowers for the first time. 😩💕

What I love most about this piece is the contrast between the characters. Aubrey is all soft sweaters and pastel hues, while the Eli's tattoos and bold presence tell their own story. (Lots of hurt/comfort in their love story.)

The Process

I created this piece using Procreate, some purchased brushes, and Canva graphics for some details. I added textured layering details to create a warm, handdrawn vibe. I wanted the lighting to feel like early morning sunlight, the kind that makes everything seem golden and a little softer around the edges. 💖

This artwork is part of my broader storytelling journey as I continue exploring MM romance themes of love, vulnerability, and connection. I hope it gives you a glimpse into the cozy, nostalgic vibe I aim to bring to every story I tell. You can read Aubrey and Eli's love story for free on Wattpad!
